Allison Hewitt Bsc(Hons) Herbal Medicine, MNIMH

My Name is Allison Hewitt and I am a medical herbalist living and working in Lincolnshire. I obtained my BSc(Hons) degree in Herbal Medicine at the University of Lincoln, studying full-time for three years under a team of highly respected and exceptional medical herbalists, where part of the requirement of the course was to complete 500 clinic hours in the University Complementary Medicine Clinic. I am a member of the National Institute of Medical Herbalists, and as such am fully insured and bound by their strict codes of conduct and safe practice.
I have always had an interest in herbal medicine as I have always believed there has to be an alternative to conventional medicine and the approach to patient care that conventional practitioners have to take.
There are so many conditions that can be so greatly improved by herbal intervention. The approach I adopt is to get as full a picture of the patient's problems and lifestyle as possible, so the treatment plan is completely tailored to the individual as ascertaining the underlying issues and what is truly happening within a patient’s body is the best way of treating any condition. This approach demands that the patient receives a long and thorough consultation with a physical examination if appropriate and ensures that the patient is listened to and their feelings and symptoms are thoroughly investigated. The herbs then play their important role in the treatment of the patient. I have a deep affinity with the herbs and feel privileged to be allowed to work through them. Herbalism is an ancient art practiced throughout time so there is a great depth of knowledge to draw on to help people achieve optimum health.
Please note I am unable to give specific medical advice to individuals over the internet. If you would like an informal chat as to whether herbal medicine can help you then please call to discuss this, however specific medical advice will only be given in a face to face consultation.
